FINRA CAT Reporting built for a zero-error standard.
Enhance your regulatory compliance processes and streamline reporting to maintain a zero-error standard.
How a CAT submission moves through ADEPT™.
ADEPT™ takes every order event through the same three stages before it reaches FINRA: ingest, validate and link, and submit and reconcile.
- Step 01Ingest
- ADEPT™ pulls order, routing, and execution events tied to CAT-reportable activity from your OMS, EMS, and clearing feeds into one governed intake. No per-desk exports to reconcile by hand.
- Step 02Validate and link
- Every event is checked against FINRA's linkage rules and repaired before submission, so an order's full lifecycle reconstructs cleanly across every venue it touched.
- Step 03Submit and reconcile
- CAT files go out on FINRA's daily filing schedule with linkage errors resolved ahead of the correction window, and rejects are triaged and resubmitted. Not left open against the clock.
How FINRA CAT reporting moves through the ADEPT™ pipeline.
Built for FINRA's Consolidated Audit Trail.
End-to-End Workflow Automation
ADEPT™ automates the CAT workflow from ingest through submission, so reportable events move from your order systems to FINRA without a manual handoff at every stage.
Error Resolution Capabilities
A triage-based approach identifies and resolves linkage and validation errors before a file is submitted, rather than waiting for FINRA's error report to surface them.
Scalable and Adaptive Platform
As FINRA's CAT technical specifications change and order volume grows, ADEPT™'s rules-based platform adapts without a rebuild of your reporting pipeline.
Zero-Error Regulatory Submission
Leveraging the same triage-based approach across every filing, ADEPT™ ensures each CAT submission is error-free, minimizing any potential risk of regulatory penalties.
Frequently asked questions
FINRA's Consolidated Audit Trail requires broker-dealers to report the full lifecycle of an order (from receipt through routing, modification, and execution) with every event linked so regulators can reconstruct what happened to it. ADEPT™ builds and validates that linkage before submission, rather than leaving it to be discovered in an error report.
Any event in an equity or option order's lifecycle (receipt, origination, routing, modification, cancellation, and execution) is a reportable CAT event. Each event has to be captured and linked back to the original order so FINRA can reconstruct the full lifecycle from a single record.
FINRA returns an error report identifying records that failed validation or couldn't be linked to their related events, and firms have a defined correction window to repair and resubmit them. ADEPT™ resolves linkage errors before the file goes out, so the correction window isn't where the work happens.
CAT data is submitted daily, by 8:00 AM Eastern on T+1, covering the prior trading day's reportable events. ADEPT™ runs ingestion, validation, and submission on that same daily cycle so files go out on time without a manual close-of-day scramble.
